Our History

Insight Investments began in 1987 reselling off-lease hardware in a 400 sq. foot office space. 30 years later we have over 300 employees and service some of today’s largest organizations with their technology acquisition, leasing, and management requirements. We are comprised of 4 subsidiary businesses providing a wide array of solutions designed to fit specific customer needs including new and used equipment acquisition, custom leasing and financing, asset management, off-lease portfolio management, excess equipment disposal, and the integration of best-of breed technology for data management and security solutions.

John Ford, CEO of Insight Investments

John Ford

CEO & Chairman of the Board

John founded Insight Investments Corp. in 1987, and has since served as CEO and Chairman of the Board, providing ongoing operational and financial leadership which has resulted in 30 consecutive years of growth and profitability.

John’s leadership style follows the Judea-Christian ethic and focuses on a principled management approach which supports the professional growth of employees and cultivates successful long-term partnerships with customers and vendors. As a seasoned executive with a keen ability to identify early technology trends, he has maintained the flexibility and balance required to advance the business and achieve consistent financial growth.

With a passion for supporting the goals of talented and motivated people, John has created a dynamic and rewarding company culture. Insight Investments is a respectful, supportive and challenging environment, where employees are encouraged to take initiative and to contribute in innovative ways.

Prior to founding Insight Investments, John held sales, operations and management roles with companies ranging from venture backed startups to Fortune 50 global technology corporations. He holds a B.S. in Economics from University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University. John is married with four children, two stepchildren, and four grandchildren.

Christopher M. Czaja

Executive Vice President

Chris joined Insight Investments in 2008 and has over 20 years of experience in banking, leasing and finance. As Executive Vice President, Chris oversees Insight's banking and treasury activities and also manages the Company's leasing infrastructure which includes credit, syndication, portfolio management, and lease administration.

Before joining Insight, Chris served as VP & Treasurer of Relational, LLC - a private, Chicago-based technology lessor. Chris's prior experience includes nearly 12 years in commercial banking at European American Bank and Fleet Bank (fka NatWest USA) where he specialized in providing financing for lessors. Chris holds a B.S. in Management and International Business as well as an M.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Sheryn Murray

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Sheryn oversees the company’s operational infrastructure which includes lease administration, credit, funding, cash application and receivable management. She brings more than 20 years of operational expertise and executive management to the team, working for industry leaders in the financial services, software and entertainment markets.

Prior to joining Insight, Sheryn oversaw risk and receivable management at Sage Software, a division of The Sage Group Plc headquartered in Newcastle, England.

Allan Umans

General Counsel

Allan joined Insight in April 2019 as General Counsel of its leasing division to oversee all day-to-day and corporate legal matters of the company. Prior to Insight, Allan was Vice President and General Counsel of Pacific Rim Capital, Inc. an independent lessor of material handling equipment, where, in addition to managing the Legal Department he had responsibility for the credit department, syndications, funding and human resources.

He has been an active member in the equipment finance industry and is the past Chairman of the Equipment Leasing & Finance Association Legal Committee. In 2016, he was named as one of the 25 most influential leasing attorneys by Leasing News, an industry news site. Allan has been married for 23 years and has two sons.

Robert Kolek

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of Insight Investments since March 2025, Robert Kolek leads financial strategy, overseeing accounting, reporting, planning, analysis, treasury, and tax. With over 20 years in leasing and equipment finance, he has managed multibillion-dollar portfolios and driven strategic initiatives at leading firms, including Relational, LLC, Engs Commercial Finance, and Mitsubishi HC Capital America. His expertise strengthens Insight Investments’ ability to deliver innovative leasing solutions.

Rob began his career in public accounting over 30 years ago. He holds a BS in Accounting from Northern Illinois University, an MBA in Finance from DePaul’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, and is a registered CPA. At Insight Investments, Robert is driving financial excellence to fuel the company’s growth and deliver value to clients and partners. Outside of work, Rob enjoys golfing, staying active, and relaxing with his wife and two kids—ideally somewhere warm and sunny. A fun fact: Rob is a die-hard Cubs fan despite growing up in a house full of White Sox supporters.
