Operating Leases
Operating leases allow our customers to match the equipment's economic life to its useful life.
Operating leases give the lessee the option at lease end to purchase the equipment, extend the lease at its fair market value or return the equipment to the lessor. Our customers use operating leases for a variety of reasons including:
- Reduce Operating Costs: Operating leases reduce the cost of ownership for equipment due to the equity position (residual value) taken by the lessor.
- Flexibility: Operating leases provide flexibility that is not available with equipment ownership.
- Refresh Cycles: Operating leases are often used to create a natural refresh schedule for rapidly advancing technologies.
- Risk of Obsolescence: Operating leases transfer obsolescence risk to the leasing company.
- Ease of Disposal: Equipment disposal inconveniences are transferred to the leasing company.
- Accounting Treatment: Operating leases may offer the ability to treat the lease payments as an expense, in accordance with FASB 13 guidelines.
